Vision

P@SHA has the vision of ensuring that Pakistan attains a role on the Global ICT map as an innovative and cost-effective location. Advocating for the interest of the industry, P@SHA will be recognised locally and internationally as the voice of the Pakistani ICT industry.

Our Mission is to

  • Create an enabling environment that makes Pakistan an attractive destination for foreign and domestic ICT investments
  • Sustain the ICT industry’s growth by raising the awareness at all levels of society to invest into the development of human resources
  • Develop new and innovative avenues for P@SHA's Members to access partners and customers outside Pakistan
  • Open up new possibilities for the ICT industry to access finance

What are the Strategic Imperatives for the P@SHA Vision?

  1. That P@SHA has the capacity to advocate various stakeholders and thus promote the interest of its members.
  2. That the number and quality of ICT graduates is increased and that the skills of the Members’ employees is cultivated
  3. That the business environment becomes truly enabling and transparent to foreign and domestic investors
  4. That Pakistan steps out of the shadow of other countries and become a Tier 2 country.
  5. That the ICT industry gains access to finance through development of new financial instruments

 

P@SHA's Vision

Organizational

That P@SHA has the capacity to advocate various stakeholders and thus promote the interest of its members. As the organisation grows it cannot continue to rely on a select few members willing to commit time and money towards advancing the cause of the organisation.

Strategic actions

  • Develop a financial plan for the coming five years that allow the organisation to grow
  • Revise the fee policy for both annual membership and services provided to members
  • Dialogue with key international donors, domestic and international companies to increase funding of events
  • Develop a committee structure with a clear mandate and mission

Measure of success

  • # of high-level presentations made by P@SHA to Government
  • # of professional staff working at the P@SHA secretariat
  • # of citations in local media originating from P@SHA
  • # of policy papers produced by P@SHA staff

 

Education

That the number and quality of ICT graduates is increased and that the skill set of the Members’ employees is refined. In order for the Pakistani ICT industry to prosper it must be able to attract and retain the required number of employees. An inadequate number of academic institutions coupled with a curricula that does not live up to the expectations of the industry means that this will difficult.

Strategic actions

  • Liaise and work with key Government and state agencies to create uniform standards for ICT in the education sector right from the primary school over high school to university
  • Liaise closely with the Pakistan Software Export Board in developing specialised ICT courses
  • Establish own fee based training programmes in order to complement courses offered by the Pakistan Software Export Board and public institutions.

  • Development of ICT specific management courses
  • Established Standards for ICT education
  • # of Institutes providing Quality Training Programs
  • # of Skilled Programmers graduating per year
  • # of Technical & Operational Staff graduating per year

 

Enabling environment

That the business environment becomes truly enabling and transparent to foreign and domestic investors. At present Pakistan does not have clear vision for the role of the ICT industry. Hence, the focus will be on laying out a path for the industry and through this ensure that the needed infrastructure will be in place.

Strategic actions

  • Develop a long term national IT strategy for Pakistan , Vision 2006-2010
  • Work with Government and other stakeholders to create an effective e-Govt strategy that will further the growth of the ICT industry
  • Liaise with Government, local government and key state agencies to ensure a stable supply of utilities
  • Work with media and other

Measures of success

  • An effective e-Govt Strategy has been formulated and implemented
  • An effective IPR policy has been adopted and implemented by Government
  • # of Government procure orders going to local ICT companies increases
  • # of P@SHA members finding utility services costly & erratic decreases
  • # of issues reported by P@SHAs members concerning IPR decreases

 

International

That Pakistan steps out of the shadow of other countries and become a Tier 2 country. With the aim of moving the country up the ladder, P@SHA will work towards raising the recognition of the ICT industry internationally. At the same time P@SHA must work with its members to prepare them for international competition.

Strategic actions

  • Develop white papers on the profile of the Pakistan ICT industry
  • Liaise with the Pakistan Software Export Board to ensure that activities are targeted and relevant to members
  • Invite foreign decision makers to attend high profile P@SHA events

  • # of events organised to show case the Pakistani ICT industry
  • # of favourable mentions in key international ICT media
  • # of members participating at international trade exhibitions
  • # of inbound & P@SHA lead outbound trade delegations
  • # of SME's having international customers
